Do you have a low income that makes it difficult for you to pay for sports, music or other fun activities? Then you can apply for the Participation Fund.

How does it work?

In these situations, you can get a Participation Fund:

  • You live in Voorne aan Zee.
  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • Your income is less than 120% of the welfare standard applicable to your situation. For the correct amounts, please visit the Rijksoverheid website.

Power

Whether you are eligible for the Participation Fund depends on how much money you have. The rules regarding this will change as of January 1, 2026:

  • Don't have a partner? Then your assets can't be more than €8,000.
  • Are you a single parent? Then it's €16,000.
  • Are you married or living together? Then it is €16,000.
  • Do you own your own home? If so, you may add €67,500 to the amounts above.

Assets are everything you own, such as savings, investments, the value of your home, minus your debts and any mortgage debt.

Amounts and fees

You are entitled to a maximum of €100 per year.

These costs will be reimbursed:

  • sports club or fitness center membership fees and related sports equipment
  • swimming lessons and subscription pool
  • music or dance school tuition, membership or course fees for a hobby club
  • membership in amateur arts association, drama society, choir, library
  • visit theater, cinema, concert, museum, zoo, amusement park
  • library membership
  • subscription costs internet
  • purchase and use of the Rotterdam Pass

How long does it take?

8 weeks after your application, you will receive a decision from the municipality stating whether you are eligible for the Participation Fund. The amount will be deposited into your account. You pay the costs yourself. Keep the bills and receipts well, so that the municipality can check afterwards whether the reimbursement was spent on the costs that are reimbursed.
