Work on bike lanes De Sprong in Hellevoetsluis

From Monday, October 13 to Wednesday, November 5, work will take place on the Sprong in Hellevoetsluis. Due to these works cyclists will have to make detours. There are two different types of works. Detours will be clearly marked.

Laying data cable

On Monday, October 13 and Tuesday, October 14, contractor Siers will lay a data cable under the sidewalk on the south side of De Sprong, next to the Shell gas station. Cyclists and pedestrians will follow a detour via the bike path across the street. This will be clearly marked.

New paving

From Wednesday, Oct. 15 through Wednesday, Nov. 5, we will renew the bike path on the north side of De Sprong. The current bike path has several loose tiles. We are laying new pavement that fits together firmly. This will help the bike path stay in place better in the future, ensuring a safe bike path.

During this work, the bike path between the traffic lights at the intersection with Kanaalweg Westzijde and the traffic circle at Kooilaan will be closed. Cyclists will be diverted via the bike path on the south side of De Sprong. Cyclists from Trambaanpad will follow the detour to the traffic circle at Kooilaan.

Contractor van Doorn Buitenruimte is performing the work. Questions about paving can be emailed tonl

Orthodontist

The orthodontist practice will remain accessible to cars via the normal access road. The practice is accessible to cyclists and pedestrians from the Kooilaan side.

On Friday, Oct. 31 and Monday, Nov. 3, Van Gelder is refurbishing the asphalt in several places along the path. The path will be closed to pedestrians.

From Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7, we will be constructing a Kiss&Ride on the Oostzanddijk in the Fortress, across from City Hall. This fulfills a wish of the City Council to make City Hall more accessible to visitors. The road will remain open during the work.

Middeldijk Rockanje closed due to asphalt work

The Middeldijk in Rockanje will be closed from Monday, October 13 until Friday, November 21. This is due to work on the asphalt. During this period no through traffic is possible on the Middeldijk. The houses and businesses along the road remain accessible as much as possible. Detours will be clearly signposted.

What will happen?

The Middeldijk is getting a new layer of asphalt. This is necessary because the road is outdated. We will make the road safer and give it a new look. The Middeldijk will have the same appearance and finish as Hoogvlietlaan. There will be red bicycle lanes on the side.

Two phases

Contractor Van Gelder is working on the Middeldijk in two phases:
- On October 13, they will start phase 1. During this period, the Middeldijk/Hoogvlietlaan intersection will remain accessible.
- On November 3, phase 2 will start. Then the junction Middeldijk/Hoogvlietlaan will be temporarily closed.
If everything goes according to plan, the work will be completed on November 21, 2025 and the road will reopen. Nice weather is needed for the application of the colored layers on the bicycle sidewalks and intersections. This part of the work will be done in March or April 2026.

Rehabilitation of Jupiterlaan and Middeldijk Rockanje

Commissioned by the Municipality of Voorne aan Zee , the Jupiterlaan and surrounding streets will be repaved and climate-adaptively redesigned. The Middeldijk from Nieuwe Achterweg to Hoogvlietlaan will also be renewed.

What exactly are we going to do do?

Jupiter Avenue and its surroundings are getting a major overhaul. As part of this renovation, an extra rainwater sewer will be constructed for climate reasons. There will also be more greenery in the street and we are looking at climate solutions, such as disconnecting rainwater. In this way, the street will be ready for the future! A widening of the roadway is planned for Middeldijk to meet current safety requirements. We will also disconnect rainwater and drain it into the adjacent ditch and canal. This year we will design the plans and next spring implementation is scheduled.

Working together

To actively involve residents in the plans, we will start with design tables during an initial information evening. These design tables are shaped by residents in collaboration with our design specialists. Together we think about the neighborhood in the future. If there are topics that we can deepen, we will set up a sounding board group with representatives from the street for this purpose. At the information evening you will receive more information about those possibilities and possible participation in the sounding board group.
