What is the college doing?

The Mayor and Aldermen (B&W) constitute the municipality’s executive body. The Mayor and Aldermen implement the policies of the municipal council and ensure that national and provincial laws and regulations are enforced.

The City Council

The city council heads the municipality and represents its residents. The city council sets policy and adopts the most important plans and regulations. The municipal executive implements this policy. The city council then monitors whether the municipal executive is properly implementing the agreed-upon policy.

The mayor serves as chair of the Municipal Executive and of the city council.
