Support for family caregivers

Informal caregivers provide long-term, unpaid care for a family member or acquaintance who needs help. This usually involves Health for persons with a long-term illness, disability or advanced age. You are a caregiver when you care for another person for more than 8 hours per week. You provide this Health for a period longer than 3 months. The Health can consist of household support or personal care. Are you a caregiver for a partner, friend, child, neighbor? Then you can ask the municipality to guide you and help you carry out this heavy task.

Mantel Care Appreciation

Family caregivers are indispensable in providing Health for their loved ones. That Health is often seen as something you 'just' do for the other person, but it is not that 'just'. Being a caregiver is often tough and the municipality greatly appreciates the Health they provide. In addition to support, the Municipality of Voorne aan Zee offers informal caregivers a token of appreciation. This appreciation, the volunteer care appreciation, is an annual amount of € 100, - which they can freely spend. For example, to do something fun or to buy something for themselves.

Do I qualify for the informal care appreciation?

You qualify for the informal care appreciation if you provide informal care for at least 3 months 8 hours per week and the person in need of care is registered in Voorne aan Zee.

Where can I go for informal care appreciation?

As a family caregiver, you can apply for a family care appreciation from the MEE foundation. The application form can be found on the MEE website. You can also call or send an e-mail to receive an application form by mail.

Mantel care home and declaration of urgency

The municipality has several schemes to make Health easier for your loved one. Such as an informal care home, an urgency scheme, volunteer insurance or group health insurance.

Mantel care home

A family care home is a dwelling on the grounds of your own home. This home allows the person for whom you care to live. If you have room for it, you can put a home for informal care in your backyard.

More information can be found at Mantel Care Home.

Urgency scheme

To provide informal care, it is sometimes desirable to live near each other. As a family caregiver, you may be able to get priority for that move. The same applies if the person you care for wants to move. With urgency, you get priority in getting social housing. This allows you to move closer to the person you care for more quickly.

More information can be found at Social rental housing, urgency declaration.

Volunteer insurance and group health insurance

Volunteer Insurance

With volunteer insurance, you are insured against accidents during your work as a caregiver. Your personal property is also covered by this insurance. You do not have to apply for this insurance. You are automatically co-insured. Through the website of Centraal Beheer | Claims you can report damage.

Collective health insurance

Your work as a caregiver may affect your job. Perhaps your income has decreased. If you have a low income, you may be able to take advantage of group health insurance.

More information can be found at Collective health insurance (Municipal Policy)

Volunteer support

A family caregiver also needs time for themselves. A specially trained volunteer can then take over the informal care for a while. In this way, the caregiver can do something for himself.
