Royal Medal of Honor
A Royal Medal of Honor is an award for associations and institutions. You can receive the Royal Medal when celebrating a special anniversary. You apply for the Royal Medal of Honour at the municipality. The King awards the Royal Medal of Honour.
How does it work?
Only an association or institution that has existed for at least 50 years can receive a Royal Medal of Honor. The Royal Medal of Honor is awarded at the celebration of the 50th anniversary. Or at the next 25 years (for example at the 75- or 100-year anniversary). An exception is possible in very special cases. A union or umbrella organization cannot receive the Royal Medal of Honor.

What should I do?
- You apply for the Royal Medal of Honor from the municipality. Do this in the municipality where your association or institution is located.
- Clearly explain why your association or institution deserves the Royal Medal of Honor. In doing so, include information about the history, purpose of the association and type of activities.
- Submit your application at least 6 months before the desired award date. You will be notified automatically whether you will receive the Royal Medal of Honor.
