Sustainability Loan

Up to € 25,000 you can take out a loan from the municipality for sustainability measures at a relatively low interest rate. These include solar panels, HR++ glass, but also sedum roofs and nesting facilities. The full amount can be borrowed so you do not have to take into account the VAT refund for solar panels or subsidies. There is no need to go to a notary. The term for loans from € 2,500 to € 7,500 is 10 years. Loans from € 7,500 to € 25,000 have a term of 15 years.

SVn

The Stimuleringsfonds Volkshuisvesting Nederland SVn issues the Sustainability Loan on behalf of the municipality. Applying for and taking out the loan costs nothing. There are no additional costs such as advice, valuation or notary fees. You do pay interest and repayment. You repay the loan on an annuity basis, which means that the monthly amount remains the same throughout the term. SVn sets the interest rate with the loan. They do not set the interest rate until the date the application is received for the financial assessment. On the SVn website you can make a trial calculation for your personal situation. You can then calculate for yourself what a Sustainability Loan will cost you.

You can also see the current interest rate of the sustainability loan on SVn's website.

An alternative is a loan through the Heat Fund. Advantages of this, compared to the loan through the municipality and SVn are additional borrowing opportunities for owner-occupiers with limited borrowing capacity. For owner-occupiers with aggregate income less than € 60,000, the interest rate is even 0.0%.

How does applying for a sustainability loan work?

Before you can apply for a loan, you must first submit an application to the municipality. This can be done using the button at the bottom of the page. If the municipality approves your application, you will receive a so-called allocation letter. With this allocation letter you can submit your application for a loan via the website of SVn (Stimuleringsfonds Volkshuisvesting Nederland). They will take out the loan, on behalf of the municipality, for you.
The SVn website also contains a clear roadmap that you can follow if you are considering taking out a sustainability loan.

Home preservation

Would you like to know more about making your home more sustainable? For this, the municipality is working with the WoonWijzerWinkel, the regional energy desk for the municipality.

For more information or to perform a free home scan, visit nl. You can also look around the showroom yourself for options. The WoonWijzerWinkel is located at Directiekade 2 in Rotterdam (Heijplaat).

The WoonWijzerWinkel regularly organizes theme days and has offers.

Other grants to make your home more sustainable?

Individuals can take advantage of the Investment Subsidy for Renewable Energy and Energy Saving (ISDE). For more information, visit nl.

If you have HR++ glass installed or a heat pump or perform other insulation measures, there may be a subsidy for this. Read aloud more information on the website of Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland. For sedum roofs, among other things, you can get a subsidy from the Water Board Hollandse Delta (WSHD). Read more information on the website of the Water Board.

Dwellings within CoEs

For Owner Associations up to 8 apartments there is also a sustainability loan and this also runs through SVn. Within this loan it is also possible to spend money on (overdue) maintenance. The loan can be provided with and without NHG. For a loan with NHG the interest rate is lower. There is also a VvE Energy Savings Loan with the Heat Fund. With the Heat Fund, VvEs with 8 or more apartments can also take out a loan. Thus, property owners within a VvE can also take advantage of a loan.

Before you can apply for a loan, you must first submit an application to the municipality. This can be done using the button at the bottom of the page. Choose the button: Sustainability loan application small VVEs.

Other grants for VvEs

For VvEs there is a different scheme: the Subsidy Scheme on sustainability for owners' associations (SVVE). The SVVE consists of three components for which you apply for a separate subsidy: energy advice, measures and having an advisory report made for installing one or more charging points for electric cars. The schemes run until December 31, 2027. Read more information and the Requirements on the website of the RVO.
