AED
An Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that can restore heart rhythm in the event of cardiac arrest. Most people are at home when they go into cardiac arrest. An ambulance does not always reach the victim in time. That's when an AED nearby can be of life-saving importance.
AED available in 6-minutes
The Municipality of Voorne aan Zee is committed to a Heart Safe Municipality and a 6-minute zone. In a 6-minute zone, people provide proper assistance within 6 minutes in case of cardiac arrest. A properly functioning 6-minute zone requires, among other things, sufficient 24/7 available AEDs. The municipality guarantees this coverage. A digital Map with all municipal AEDs that are available 24 hours a day will follow shortly.
These AEDs are registered with HartslagNu, making them deployable in the event of a 112 call and directing the nearest civilian rescuer to the AED.
AEDs in public and association buildings
A large number of public and association buildings in Voorne aan Zee have an AED. These are not included in the 6-minute coverage since they are usually not available 24 hours a day.
