Swimming in Natural Waters
The Province of South Holland has designated Voorne aan Zee number of official swimming areas in Voorne aan Zee . These include spots near Oostvoornse Meer, Brielse Meer, and Quackstrand. During the swimming season (May 1 through October 1), water quality and safety are regularly monitored at these locations. This is carried out by inspectors from the Midden-Holland Environmental Agency, in collaboration with the province and the water board.
Would you like to go swimming somewhere? Be sure to check the Zwemwater website beforehand. Here you’ll find up-to-date information about all official swimming locations in the Netherlands. You can use the Map on a specific location. The facilities available at each location are listed. You can also see whether the water at the swimming location is clean and free of, for example, blue-green algae or botulism. If the water quality isn’t good enough, the environmental agency may advise against swimming or even prohibit it.
More information about the official swimming locations can be found on the website of the Province of South Holland or the Midden-Holland Environmental Agency.
