"Week of Encounter" Brings Residents of Voorne aan Zee Together
Voorne aan Zee is organizing “Week of Connection” from Thursday, September 24, through Wednesday, September 30, 2026. This week coincides with “Week Against Loneliness” and is entirely dedicated to connection, coming together, and caring for one another.
Alderman Wilbert Borgonjen kicked off the week by opening a pop-up living room at the De Struytse Hoeck shopping center in Hellevoetsluis. Visitors were welcome there between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for coffee, tea, and a treat. The PUSH sports team was also on hand with exercise and game activities, allowing residents to experience in an accessible way how exercise and socializing go hand in hand.
At “ Voorne aan Zee ,” we believe it’s important for residents to feel at home in their village or neighborhood and to have the opportunity to meet others, get involved, and feel welcome. Socializing may sometimes seem like a given, but it isn’t for everyone. Socializing means seeing and accepting one another as fellow human beings. Today, we see a beautiful reflection here of what this week stands for: a place where residents are welcome, where a cup of coffee, conversation, exercise, and music come together.
A Program Full of Encounters
A wide-ranging program has been put together for the Week of Encounter, featuring activities for people of all ages. Throughout the municipality, events such as coffee mornings, walks, creative gatherings, language activities, sports activities, game afternoons, and social gatherings for specific target groups will be organized.
The program was made possible thanks to dedicated residents, volunteers, and community organizations.
