Hollandse Delta Water Board: Voornse Sluis to Be Open Less Often

Starting Tuesday, August 4, the Hollandse Delta Water Board will open the Voornse Sluis near Spijkenisse less frequently. The lock provides access to Lake Briel. They are taking this action due to the looming freshwater shortage.

The lock will open for commercial and recreational vessels at the following times:

Monday through Thursday:

  • Ship tours: 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.
  • Departures: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. 

Friday through Sunday:

  • Departures: 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
  • Departures: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
