Recognition for foster parents and support parents in the municipality Voorne aan Zee

Last week, from October 28 to November 4, was Foster Care Week. During this week, we draw extra attention to foster care and host families. Because every child needs safety and stability to grow up healthy.

Appreciation Event

To honor the foster and support parents in our municipality this week, an appreciation event was held today, October 30, at ‘t Dijckhuis in Vierpolders. Alderman Wilbert Borgonjen was in attendance. “I’m glad there are people who help children and families when times are tough. Whether you’re a full-time foster parent or help out as a support parent for a few half-days, your dedication makes a huge difference. This work is very important. A safe and peaceful place to grow up is important for every child.”

Find out if foster care might be right for you!

Our community still desperately needs new foster parents. Are you curious about what it’s like to be a foster parent? And how you actually become one? On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Hellevoetsluis Library is hosting the event “Foster Care at the Table” at De Struytse Hoeck. Between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., visitors can talk with people who have firsthand experience with foster care. They’ll share personal stories about the rewarding aspects of foster care, as well as the challenges and questions that come with it. You’re warmly welcome to join us, listen in, and ask questions.
