If you want to sell goods or services on the street or door-to-door, this is only allowed if the municipality allows it. You may have to apply for a permit to do so.

How does it work?

A peddling license allows you to sell your goods or services in public places such as public roads, on public water or at your door.

Peddling means that you sell your goods in a different place each time. So not in a fixed place. Examples of peddlers are the ice cream vendor or greengrocer with a mobile cart. We do not talk about peddling in the following cases:

  • You distribute written or printed materials as part of freedom of speech.
  • You are a retailer and you deliver goods to a buyer's home.
  • You sell your goods from a permanent stand or at a market. You then need a marketplace permit or stand permit.

What should I do?

Check with the municipality whether you are allowed to peddle and where and when you can do so. You will then hear immediately whether you need to apply for a permit for this. Call 14 0181.
