Fall Prevention

Everyone would like to grow old in good health and live at home for as long as possible. But one fall can make that difficult. Every year, one in three people age 65 or older falls. A fall accident has a significant impact on independence, being able to live at home and quality of life. The rising number of fall accidents increases the pressure on Health and healthcare costs.

Enough reasons to include fall prevention in the Healthy and Active Living Agreement (GALA), a program of the rijksoverheid. From GALA, municipalities receive money for fall prevention. By forming a so-called 'Chain Approach to Fall Prevention' and organizing activities to prevent falls, the number of fall accidents should be reduced.
