Transportation of hazardous materials
- It is prohibited to transport, load or unload hazardous materials in the municipality.
- A number of hazardous substances are subject to mandatory routes in the Netherlands. Some municipalities and provinces indicate the mandatory route with road signs. You can get information about these routes from the municipal or regional fire department.
- If you want to deviate from the mandatory route within the municipality, for example to load or unload, you must apply for an exemption from the municipality.
What should I do?
You request the exemption from the municipality. To do so, call 14 0181.
Please provide the following information with your application:
- the substances you wish to transport and in what quantities
- the loading or unloading area in the municipality
- the desired route
- the time of transportation
- the name of your company
- approval of the vehicle by the National Road Administration (RDW)
- your license and driver's certificate to transport hazardous materials
