Schelpenpad Trail, Hellevoetsluis

What are we going to do?

The truck parking lot on Schelpenpad in Hellevoetsluis will eventually be removed. This will free up space on municipal land for other uses. The Aldi supermarket on Kastanjelaan has indicated that it would like to relocate to Schelpenpad due to a lack of space at its current location. Local sports clubs have also indicated that they need more parking spaces to provide their members with sufficient parking. Additionally, the possibility of constructing a small apartment complex is being explored.

Eventually, the truck parking lot on Schelpenpad in Hellevoetsluis will be removed. This will free up municipal land at this location. The municipality is currently exploring new uses for this site. The following ideas are currently being considered:

  • Aldi may be planning to move from Kastanjelaan to Schelpenpad. Its current location on Kastanjelaan has become too small.
  • The sports clubs in attendance have also indicated that they need more parking spaces.
  • In addition, the municipality is exploring whether there is room here for a small apartment complex.

The municipality is currently investigating whether it is feasible to relocate the Aldi supermarket and build an apartment complex.

Location of the remaining items

If the Aldi supermarket moves from Kastanjelaan to Schelpenpad, space will become available at the current location for a new development. The municipality is currently assessing the feasibility of building housing there.

Where will the work take place?

Aldi supermarket location on Kastanjelaan

The map shows the current location of the Aldi supermarket on Kastanjelaan on the left. This will also be the site left behind when Aldi relocates. On the right is the parking lot on Schelpenpad. This site is intended for the new supermarket, housing for people with minor care needs, and additional parking spaces for sports clubs.

When does what happen?

The plans are still in the feasibility phase. Therefore, no timeline has been announced yet. However, we expect to be able to provide an update on the status of the various feasibility studies by the end of 2026.
