Rest area requests
If you choose a municipal cemetery, request a resting place from the municipality. The funeral director can arrange this for you.
What should I do?
The funeral director or yourself provides the following information:
- The name, date and place of birth of the person who died;
- the date and place of death;
- The date and time of the funeral;
- Choice of grave private or general or ash destination.
Transferring the resting place
If the rightful owner of the grave has died, you can transfer the grave to another rightful owner.
How does it work?
You can bury your loved one in a municipal cemetery if you pay grave fees to the municipality. This means that you rent the grave for a certain period of time. You can always extend this period for a private grave. A general grave cannot be extended.
If you rent a private grave, you are the rightful owner of the grave. You then determine who may be buried in it.
When choosing a general grave, the grave is in the name of the municipality or cemetery owner and you are a stakeholder. The municipality then also determines who will be buried in that grave. This can be two people who do not know each other.
