Store opening hours

The Winkeltijdenwet regulates that stores in the Netherlands may be open between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. In the municipality of Voorne aan Zee , in addition to the Winkeltijdenwet, the Voorne aan Zee Winkeltijden 2023 (shopping hours ordinance) also applies.

On Sundays and holidays, stores are allowed to open between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m..
There is one exception: on May 4, all stores are closed after 7 p.m. in observance of National Remembrance Day.

You can apply for two types of exemptions to the shopping hours ordinance. These allow you to have your store open outside of normal business hours.

Occasional exemption (between 10 p.m. and midnight)

You can request an occasional exemption for your store to be open on a weekday, Sunday or holiday between 10 p.m. and midnight up to twice a year. For example, for a special occasion. The municipality will review your request for possible disruption of the residential and living environment in the area and possible disruption of public order. It is not possible to apply for an exemption to be open on May 4th after 19.00 hrs. You can submit an application for an occasional exemption at the bottom of this page.

Exemption evening stores (between 10 p.m. and midnight)

Do you want to start an evening store in the municipality of Voorne aan Zee? If so, you need an exemption for the shopping hours ordinance if you want to be open after 10:00 pm. The dispensation allows you to be open extra on weekdays and Sundays and holidays between 10 p.m. and midnight, with the exception of May 4. Then the evening store is closed after 7 p.m. The municipality will review your request for possible disruption of the residential and living environment in the area and possible disruption of public order.
