Just at Sea
Just at sea - Nederwiek 3
Gemeente Voorne aan Zee and surrounding municipalities have been informed about an underground high-voltage connection by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) and TenneT TSO B.V. (TenneT). This connection runs from the Nederwiek wind energy area in the North Sea to the municipality of Geertruidenberg or Moerdijk. This underground high-voltage connection is needed to transport the sustainable energy, which will be generated at sea in the future, to land.
Several options for the connection are under consideration. This means that a new underground high-voltage connection may be built through part of Voorne aan Zee . Because part of this new connection may pass through Voorne aan Zee , we are involved in this process as a discussion partner. The Ministry will make the final decision on the (location of the) connection.
The Netherlands' new energy system
Voorne aan Zee lies on the coast between the (future) offshore wind farms and the port of Rotterdam as well as industrial areas further inland. Therefore, in the coming years we will have to deal with several national projects to renew the energy system here.
Gemeente Voorne aan Zee is following the developments within the various national projects for renewing the energy system with great attention. We are looking at what the interests and possible consequences are for Voorne aan Zee, the landscape and the plans that Voorne aan Zee itself has. We bring these to the attention of EZK and involved network companies during discussions and by responding to (formal) documents. And we stress that it is important that projects are tackled in conjunction, with our residents, entrepreneurs and civil society organizations being properly involved and informed. For all projects, the municipality has no role in the decision-making process.
