Good accessibility and safe traffic situations. That is the ambition of the Municipality of Voorne aan Zee. That is why we are working on a mobility plan. A mobility plan describes what the municipality will do in the coming years in the field of traffic and transport. Among other things, we want to determine which traffic situations must be addressed and when.

On this page we explain the steps we have taken and are still taking and how we are involving residents, business owners and civil society organizations. If interim results are known, we will share them on this page.

Why a mobility plan

The municipality has approximately 73,000 inhabitants, spread over 350 square kilometers of historic cores, vast polders, dunes, beach and forest. The various villages and towns are developing and visions and ambitions are being incorporated into municipal policy. One component is mobility: everything to do with traffic and transportation.

The mobility plan answers the question: How does the municipality of Voorne aan Zee keep its cores livable, accessible and connected to the urban region. We describe the ambitions and social themes within the municipality and region in the field of traffic and transport. We set measurable and realistic targets in the areas of accessibility, traffic safety, parking and mobility. This mobility plan provides frameworks for considering developments and projects towards the future. Consider themes such as walking, cycling, public transportation, parking, agricultural and freight traffic and overall traffic management. Ultimately, we weigh the wishes, ambitions and plans and translate the outcome into an implementation plan with concrete projects.

Roadmap

The process to be followed consists of two parts:

A. Mobility vision
In the second quarter of 2025, we will submit the mobility vision to the city council for decision-making. The vision is partly made on the basis of the results collected in the participation process.

B. Mobility Plan (2nd half 2025)
The implementation plan contains the elaboration and planning for each measure based on costs and coordination with other ongoing projects and management and maintenance work. Implementation focuses on the period 2025 through 2035. The mobility vision will look 15 to 20 years into the future.

Participation

What do our residents think of the roads, bike paths and walkways in Voorne aan Zee? How do they experience road safety? And do they use public transport? We have inventoried and compiled the experience and input on these and other topics concerning mobility in a participation note.

The next step is to see where the opportunities and challenges lie. We also like to do this with the people who use our roads every day, after the City Council puts together the mobility vision.

We are creating posters at the area level and with these posters we would like to engage with residents, business owners and other stakeholders, where people can comment on the implementation plan.
