Filing a complaint

If you feel you have not been treated properly by an official or administrator, you can file a complaint with the municipality. You can file a complaint about:

  • personal treatment by employees or directors
  • getting too little, incorrect or misleading information
  • Failure to respond to your questions (or if you have to wait too long for an answer)

Notice! You cannot complain about the general policies of the municipality.

What should I do?

  • Clearly describe what the complaint is about and why you are making the complaint.
  • The council may ask you to come by to discuss your complaint.

Complaint about public space

Would you like to file a complaint about public space? For example, about:

  • Loose paving stones.
  • Broken street lights.
  • A tree threatening to fall down.
  • Poor maintenance of parks.

Then you can file a public space report.

How does it continue?

You will be notified in writing as soon as we receive your complaint form. In addition, you will have the opportunity to explain your complaint orally.

The college will start an investigation into your complaint. Within 6 weeks, you will receive a letter from the college with the outcome of the investigation into your complaint. Sometimes more time is needed to investigate your complaint. We will keep you informed.

Ombudsman Rotterdam-Rijnmond

Are you not satisfied with the way your complaint is being handled? Or is the municipality not responding to your complaint? Then you can submit your complaint to the Ombudsman Rotterdam-Rijnmond.

The Ombudsman Rotterdam-Rijnmond (ORR) is independent of the municipality. The ombudsman will work with you to find a good solution. The ombudsman also gives advice to the municipality to prevent your complaint from being repeated in the future.
