Assistance with an employment disability

If you have a physical, mental or psychological disability, you may need extra guidance or adjustments in order to work. This may be with a regular employer in a guarantee job or with sheltered work.

Do you need an adapted workplace or more explanation during work. Then a guarantee job is for you. You can apply to the UWV for a guaranteed job. If you receive this, we will help you find work.

Sheltered employment is an option when someone cannot (yet) work in a regular job, even with extra guidance, support or facilities. Especially when someone needs more adjustments than a 'regular' employer can provide.

What should I do?

  • You apply to the municipality for a sheltered workplace. You can do so at nl
  • Together with the municipality, you look at what the best solution is. If this indeed shows that sheltered work is the best solution, the municipality will request a recommendation from the UWV.
  • With a positive recommendation from the UWV, the municipality will work with you to find a suitable workplace.

Make an appointment

You can also apply to the UWV yourself for a jobs agreement indication or advice indication of sheltered employment. The UWV examines your talents, abilities and limitations. On this basis, the UWV determines whether someone needs advice or an indication.

How long does it take?

The UWV decides on your application within 8 weeks and sends you a report. The report states that you can contact the municipality. You will then receive help from the municipality from a specialized employee in finding suitable work.
