Hendrika Dubois Appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau
On Monday, July 27, Ms. Hendrika Dubois of Brielle received a royal decoration from Mayor Arno Scheepers. Ms. Dubois was appointed a Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of her exceptionally long-standing, selfless dedication to our community.

Ms. Dubois has been a volunteer for over fifty years. Between 1972 and 2003, she volunteered at De Guppy’s preschool and Het Waterschip elementary school in Hoogvliet, at the Hernesseroord residential care center in Middelharnis, and at the GGD in Spijkenisse. Among other roles, she served as a board member, a member of the parent-teacher association, and a hostess.
From 2004 to 2015, she was active with Humanitas Steun bij Rouw. She visited participants at home, led peer support groups, and, as a coordinator, matched participants with the right volunteers. Since 2005, she has been affiliated with Careyn De Plantage in Brielle. Every week, she is present in the psychogeriatric ward, where she assists residents with their activities. She also makes time for one-on-one conversations. In addition, she organizes outings, performances, and a memorial gathering twice a year.
At Alzheimer Trefpunt Voorne aan Zee , she Voorne aan Zee hostess for the monthly information sessions since 2012. She concludes each session with a poem she writes herself based on that evening’s theme. Fellow volunteers describe Ms. Dubois as “a true jack-of-all-trades who is reliable, loving, tireless, and invaluable.”
