Municipality of Voorne aan Zee flips tiles for greenery!
Voorne aan Zee bounces tiles during the NK Tile Bouncing. This spring, everyone can replace tiles with greenery again. We are lending residents a hand with a tile cab, which will come and pick up your wiped tiles.

Tiles out, greenery in. Voorne aan Zee is flipping tiles along with at least 280 municipalities in the Netherlands during the NK Tegelwippen. From March 21 to October 31, 2025, everyone can once again massively replace tiles with grass, flowers, shrubs and trees. To give residents of Voorne aan Zee a helping hand, a special tile cab will drive around in May and June to pick up your tossed tiles. With this initiative, the municipality is helping residents to make their gardens greener. More greenery means less flooding during downpours, cooler villages and towns during hot summers and a healthier environment.
Alderman climate adaptation, Robert van der Kooi is enthusiastic: "The climate is changing, we notice this for example in the heavy rain showers. We are experiencing more and more flooding because the water cannot drain away. Greening is therefore important. Take a look at your garden and discover where it could be greener. By flipping tiles and bringing back greenery, rainwater can sink directly into the ground. That way you turn your yard into a sponge that captures water when it pours and holds it for dry periods. And the rocked tiles ... we'll come and pick them up from you!
