Village and district councils

Working together to create strong villages and neighborhoods

In Voorne aan Zee we find the uniqueness and identity of our neighborhoods and villages of great importance. Every village or neighborhood has its own character and we cherish that diversity. Village and neighborhood councils play a valuable role in this: they are the eyes and ears of the neighborhood and form an important voice of the local community.

Together with our residents, we want to work on a pleasant, safe, healthy and close living environment, with an eye for more social cohesion. We can best do this by working together and entering into an open relationship with each other. Village and district councils are indispensable in this. They represent the interests of their community and help us to strengthen the connection with the district or the village.

The municipality therefore stimulates the creation and the continued existence of these councils. Together we ensure support and accessibility and we conduct the discussion about the preservation and development of vital, social villages, cities and neighbourhoods. In this way we strengthen the social basis and ensure that everyone can live and participate pleasantly.

What does a village or neighborhood council do?

A village or neighbourhood council is committed to a liveable, safe and involved neighbourhood. They bring residents, associations and other local organisations together to work together and discuss what is happening in the village or neighbourhood.

The council organizes and stimulates activities that contribute to a pleasant living environment. They listen carefully to the wishes and concerns of residents, and bring these into Map and search - together with residents, partners and the municipality - for appropriate solutions or improvements.

In addition:

  • Does the village or district council represent the interests of the neighborhood to the municipality;
  • contributes ideas to the village or district council or helps to think about plans and policies;
  • does the village or district council promote contact, cooperation and involvement between residents;
  • the village or district council helps residents to get their initiatives off the ground.

Participating in or setting up a village or neighborhood council?

The board of a village or district council consists of people who together represent the village or district as best as possible.
