Assistance, quid pro quo
The municipality may require you to perform a quid pro quo. Officially, this is called: quid pro quo to capacity. This is possible if you are 18 years of age or older, but younger than the retirement age. The quid pro quo consists of the obligation to perform unpaid socially useful work in society in return for receiving benefits.
If you fail to fulfill your obligation to provide a contribution commensurate with your means, the municipality may adjust your social assistance benefits. This adjustment is made in accordance with your municipality’s Adjustment Regulation.
You do not have to do anything in return if you:
- Are totally and permanently disabled; or
- are a single parent and you are exempt from consideration.
The quid pro quo consists of the duty to perform unpaid socially useful work in society in return for receiving benefits.
What should I do?
The municipality decides whether you are required to provide a quid pro quo. You can object to and appeal this decision.
Additional information
The municipality must take your personal circumstances into account when requiring consideration in return for your ability. These include age, education, work experience and other relevant circumstances.
