Poverty policy

At Voorne aan Zee , we believe in the strength and self-reliance of our residents. But sometimes they don't manage to make ends meet or participate in society. We want everyone to be able to participate, which is why we have developed our poverty policy.

Our Integrated Poverty Policy 2025 - 2028 has seven strategic goals:

  1. Accessible and approachable services: We make sure our residents know what support we offer and encourage them to apply for it.
  2. Integrated approach within the social domain: We provide appropriate support in all areas of life that are important within the social domain.
  3. Enabling children to participate: Through mini schemes, we ensure that children can participate in social and sports activities.
  4. Income support measures for low-income residents: We ensure that these schemes are known and used by our residents.
  5. Local Debt Services: We are working with internal and external partners to organize debt services locally.
  6. Prevention, early signaling and aftercare: We want to prevent debts and identify them in time.
  7. Attention to different groups: Extra attention is given to groups such as low literacy, families with minor children and youth.

The strategic goals are elaborated in four policies:

  1. Strengthen prevention: Focused on preventing poverty and debt, with an emphasis on financial education and collaboration with community partners.
  2. Integral collaboration around poverty: Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty by focusing on health, loneliness, low literacy and children.
  3. Effective Debt Approach: Provide assistance to residents in debt to achieve a stable financial situation.
  4. Income support with children in mind: Increase the reach of income support and provide opportunities for children to participate in sports and cultural activities.

We did not develop this policy alone. Our residents, community partners and other stakeholders have contributed.
