Is someone registered at your address who no longer lives there? Then you can ask the municipality to conduct an address search. The municipality then checks whether this person actually lives at the address listed in the municipal personal records database (GBA).

What should I do?

You can request an address inquiry in person at the front desk at the municipality. Simply make an appointment online to do so:

Termination of research

Upon completion of the investigation, the municipality will notify you of the results. The municipality may deregister someone from the GBA or register them at a new address after the investigation.

What do I need?

When requesting an address search, you will need the following information:

  • Your valid ID.
  • Proof showing that you are the owner or tenant of the property (for example, a purchase or rental agreement).
  • Possibly details of the person who is registered at your address but no longer lives there. Consider this person's name, date of birth or phone number.

How does it work?

The municipality is obliged to initiate an address investigation if there is doubt about the accuracy of address data. The municipality initiates an investigation at the request of the current occupant (owner or tenant) or in response to a report from an agency that uses data from the GBA.
