How do I approach the council?

As a municipality of Voorne aan Zee , we like to work together with our residents. We make many plans, but we also provide space for good initiatives by residents. That is why we involve residents as early as possible, so that the plans fit in well with the wishes and needs of the residents. Decisions are made by the municipal council.

Speaking in council meeting

The Voorne aan Zee City Council meets every 5 weeks. 

If you would like to speak at the council meeting, this is possible. You may speak for a maximum of 5 minutes on topics that are on the council agenda. If there are many speakers, the speaking time will be shorter. Anonymous speaking is not permitted.

It is not possible to speak on the same subject that the speaker has already addressed at a committee meeting. No comments may be made on the minutes of the previous meeting or on the list of incoming documents. No comments may be made on the appointment of persons either.

If you wish to exercise the right to speak, please notify the Municipal Clerk’s Office Municipal Clerk’s Officenl at least 24 hours prior to the start of the meeting, stating your name, address and telephone number and the subject on which you wish to speak.

Speaking in committee

If you wish to speak to the committee, you may do so on any subject relating to the committee's work. You may speak for a maximum of 5 minutes. If there are many speakers, the speaking time will be shorter. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to respond briefly (maximum 2 minutes) to the committee members' contributions on the relevant agenda item. Anonymous comments are not permitted.

Join us for an imaging evening

If there is a plan, the council wants to explore it as broadly as possible. By reading documents, asking questions, going on site visits, questioning experts and residents. There are also regular so-called image-forming evenings. This is when council members may have an opinion, but have not yet formed a final position.

Image-forming evenings can take different forms, such as a presentation by or on behalf of the college or a working visit.
