Alderman Award from Rijbewijsbox
On Monday, July 13, Alderman Bal presented the first prize from the Rijbewijsbox. Nineteen-year-old Marith Oudwater from Oudenhoorn was the lucky winner. She won a dinner and go-karting package.
All young people in Voorne aan Zee pass their driver’s license exam receive a Driver’s License Box and have a chance to win one of these prize packages. The municipality holds a raffle for this prize twice a year. Marith passed both her written and behind-the-wheel exams on her first try. On Friday, April 24, she received her driver’s license along with the Driver’s License Box.
Tips for Safe Driving
The kit includes, among other things, tips for safe driving. In this way, the municipality aims to make young drivers more aware of their behavior on the road.
In South Holland, young people aged 16 through 24 are a high-risk group on the roads. Every week, more than 50 young people are involved in traffic accidents here. Their own behavior often plays a role in these accidents, such as speeding, distraction from cell phones, or driving under the influence. Peer pressure and underestimating risks also increase the likelihood of accidents.
