Alderman in conversation with schoolchildren about road safety

Wednesday, Oct. 8, students from Penta College Bahûrim were guests at a cabaret performance on traffic safety. Alderman Peter Schop chimed in to talk with the students about everyday traffic situations and the importance of safe behavior in traffic.

Alderman Schop emphasizes the importance of this approach: "The number of traffic casualties must be reduced. We work continuously to improve traffic situations, but many accidents occur because of unsafe behavior. We want everyone to be able to move safely through traffic. By making young people aware early on of their own behavior in traffic, they will hopefully be more aware of the dangers."

No raised finger

The performance 'Zeven Sloten', performed by comedian Wannes Zeegers, made the high school students think about their own traffic behavior in a funny but confrontational way. Without wagging his finger, he discussed various traffic situations and showed the consequences of dangerous behavior.

That it impressed the students was well demonstrated during the story of character "Kor Sakov. Kor talks light-heartedly about his alcohol past, but when he tells about the child he hit in a drunken stupor, the room falls completely silent. After the performance, students and the Alderman , led by the comedian, engaged in a conversation about various, sometimes unsafe, traffic situations. Students also answered questions about their own behavior in traffic.

Totally Traffic

The cabaret performance is performed by Theater Mens and provided by Totally Traffic. Totally Traffic is part of a traffic education program for secondary schools and was developed by the Regional Support Office South Holland on behalf of the Metropolitan Region Rotterdam The Hague. Together with the Municipality of Voorne aan Zee , we are striving to make a point of zero traffic casualties.
