What is a Region Deal?
The islands of Goeree-Overflakkee, Hoeksche Waard and Voorne-PuttenVoorne aan Zee and Nissewaard) have a number of common characteristics and related tasks. Good cooperation can strengthen the attractiveness and (economic and social) liveability of the South Holland Delta. That is why we are joining forces and tackling the challenges together.
Phase one
The South Holland Delta partnership has signed a Region Deal with the state. With this deal, the State is investing 7.5 million in strengthening and improving the quality of life, work and living in our region. In the Regio Deal we join forces with other municipalities on the themes of Sustainability, Agrifood, Landscape & Tourism and Education & Labor Market. This phase has now been completed.
Phase two
As of January 2025, there is a new deal!
The South Holland Delta is ready for the next step. In doing so, the focus is on the following four key themes for our region:
- strengthen economy;
- improve landscape;
- enhance livability;
- Building and securing our cooperation.
Together with the State, our partners and other parties, we will take steps over the next four years to make this happen. Concrete initiatives and projects of entrepreneurs, educational institutions, social organizations and governments are of great importance here. Together we are building a powerful region!

What is a Region Deal?
In a Regio Deal, the national and regional governments work together to improve the quality of life, work, housing, business, security, education and recreation in regions throughout the Netherlands. The national government has made a total of 180 million euros available for Regio Deals that strengthen 'broad prosperity' in the Netherlands.

Who work together?
This Regio Deal is the start of a collaboration to work together in the interests of over 300,000 residents. The islands of Goeree-Overflakkee, Hoeksche Waard and Voorne-Putten consist of the municipalities Voorne aan Zee, Hoeksche Waard, Goeree-Overflakkee and Nissewaard. Together with (agricultural) entrepreneurs, government and education we are putting our shoulders to the wheel. Together for a powerful South Holland Delta!
