Public housing rules for your housing initiative Public housing

Responsibly housing residents with sufficient and suitable housing

The Housing Act establishes the main principles of Dutch public housing. The Building Code sets out the legal building regulations of a new construction development. Together they form the basis for housing construction in Westvoorne. The population composition changes continuously, depending on, for example, the economic and political situation of our country. The concept of responsible housing is also subject to trends, politics, innovation and other developments.

The basis for our housing policy must be well-matched to the needs and desires of the future population

It is therefore important to keep looking ahead. On average, a housing development takes four to seven years. The housing projects currently under development must meet the then current market demand upon completion. The housing products that will still be there in 30 years must meet the wishes and requirements of the population at that time. Based on this knowledge, the various policy fields within the spatial domain develop policy goals and guidelines. This is also the case from the public housing policy field. In this framework, the latter goals are translated into an easily manageable framework.

This public housing framework is not exhaustive

The framework gives you as an initiator when taking your land position a clear picture of the public housing frameworks, on which you can base your land purchase. It ensures a level playing field for all parties in negotiations.
