Request for enforcement
If you think someone is breaking the rules, you can ask the municipality to do something about it. You then make a request for enforcement.
How does it work?
You can only request enforcement if you are an "interested party. For example, if your neighbors make illegal use of land or build a shed without a permit, you are an interested party. If it concerns someone in a village further away, you are not an interested party.
When processing your request, the municipality considers the interests of both you and the person about whom the report is made.
In doing so, it cannot be prevented from becoming known that you made the request. Thus, you cannot submit a request for enforcement anonymously.
What should I do?
You may submit your request in writing or by mailnl.
When doing so, provide at least the following information:
- Your details (name, address, place of residence and contact information)
- information about the possible violation:
- location (address and city)
- description of the possible violation
- what action(s) would you like the municipality to take?
- what interest do you have (why are you an interested party)?
- Is there an emergency situation? If so, why?
- the request must be signed (in writing and digitally)
If known:
- name of the person you believe is at fault
- laws or regulations being broken
- any attachments of the situation, such as a photograph
How long does it take?
Your request for enforcement will be processed within 8 weeks.
Objecting
You can object to the municipality's decision. You must do this within 6 weeks of the decision. If you disagree with the decision on the objection, you can appeal to the court.
