Elections, What do I need?
What do I need to vote?
To vote, you need a voting pass and proof of identity. Your proof of identity must not have expired for more than 5 years.
You will receive your voting card at home
Your personal voting pass will be sent to your home address. Voting passes will be delivered to you before March 4, 2026. However, not everyone will receive a voting pass for these elections. The following Requirements apply to the municipal council:
- Voters must be 18 years of age or older on the day of the election;
- Voters should not be excluded from the right to vote;
- Voters are of Dutch nationality;
- Voters have EU citizenship and have resided in the Netherlands for 5 years:
Your voting card has a unique number. The voting pass is proof for the polling station that you have not already voted at another polling station. Your polling card shows the address of the polling station. If you want to vote in another municipality, you can apply for a voter ID card.
Voting pass not received or lost?
You cannot cast your vote without your voting pass. It is possible to request a new voting pass. There are two ways to request a new voting pass: in writing or in person.
Written
This can be done in writing until Friday, March 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the latest. You must enclose a copy of a valid ID with your application. The application form can be downloaded from the Rijksoverheid website. Please note that you must apply on time, as postal delivery may take longer than usual.
The written request must be submitted to the municipality no later than Friday, March 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. You can also submit the form at our customer contact center in Hellevoetsluis or Rockanje.
Addresses and opening hours:

Did you find your old voting pass after requesting a replacement? You can no longer vote with this voting pass.
Please note: no new voting passes will be issued on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. You cannot vote without a voting pass.
Voting with an expired passport or ID card
Your ID may be expired for a maximum of 5 years. The "valid until" date must be March 19, 2021, or later. If you do not have an ID or it has been expired for more than 5 years, and you are unable to apply for a new ID in time, you may request someone else to vote on your behalf with a written proxy.
Identity card stolen or lost
Has your ID card been stolen or lost? With a declaration of loss, issued by the municipality, you can still vote. In that case, also bring a pass with your photo. For example, a personalized public transport chip card.
Have you moved recently?
The address at which you are officially registered on the day of nomination determines in which municipality you can vote. For this election, the day of nomination is Monday, February 2, 2026. Your voting pass will also be delivered to the address at which you are registered on that date.
