Making roofs more sustainable: all Woonbedrijf homes meet sustainability goals by 2028
The Woonbedrijf of the Municipality of Voorne aan Zee is working hard to meet the sustainability requirements for the homes it owns, and is even ahead of the 2030 targets. By 2028, all 1425 homes owned by Woonbedrijf will meet the sustainability targets set.

An important sustainability project started in January on Koekoekslaan in Oostvoorne. Here, roofs have been additionally insulated and roof tiles replaced. The contractor is currently working on the roofs of the complex on Frambozenstraat/Moerbeistraat in Rockanje. This will be followed by the Wielewaal complex in Rockanje. A total of 48 homes will be improved at these locations.
Where possible, skylights and roof penetrations will be moved to the shaded side to make room for solar panels. Gutters will also be renewed. If tenants already have solar panels, they will be temporarily removed and later replaced. Tenants who do not yet have solar panels will be given another opportunity to have them installed.
With projects such as these, Woonbedrijf is taking an important step towards a more sustainable future for Voorne aan Zee.
Alderman Daan van Orselen: "We are proud that as Woonbedrijf of the municipality of Voorne aan Zee , we are allowed to rent out good and sustainable housing at an affordable rate."
Sustainability requirements
According to current regulations, all homes must have at least energy label D by 2028, and average energy label A by 2030. The Woonbedrijf of the Municipality of Voorne aan Zee will more than meet these sustainability requirements for the homes under their management. This is good news for the tenants of the Woonbedrijf, as living comfort will increase and energy costs will decrease. With this, Woonbedrijf is also complying with the 2024 motion. In this motion, the City Council asked the College of B&W to make a plan to make the Woonbedrijf's homes more sustainable.
A certified consultant manages the energy labels of the Woonbedrijf's rental properties. They examined how Woonbedrijf can improve the energy efficiency of all homes, after which Woonbedrijf set to work. Woonbedrijf started with the houses that are older and less energy efficient. In making the homes more sustainable, the maintenance policy is followed. For example, work is often done in conjunction with planned maintenance or when a house changes occupants. Where possible, planned maintenance on homes is brought forward.
Affordable housing also in the future
