Theater performance and training on elder abuse well attended
On Monday, May 26, the theater performance Au!derdom took place at 't Dijckhuis in Vierpolders. The performance, which was attended by care professionals, volunteers and the elderly alike, highlighted themes such as financial abuse and mistreatment in a penetrating way. The goal was to bring attention and awareness to elder abuse, an often hidden and difficult topic to discuss.
Following the performance, professionals and volunteers attended an interactive training to recognize and act on signs of elder abuse. Using virtual reality glasses and practical examples, participants were trained to make a difference in their work. This combination of theater and training offered not only insight, but also concrete tools to better support elderly people in vulnerable situations.
