Will you help fight loneliness?

Everyone is sometimes lonely. However, 11% of Voorne aan Zee residents say they are often (severely) lonely. People who are lonely do not always ask for help themselves, but they do enjoy getting help.

Do you suspect someone close to you is lonely and this person is not asking for help themselves and/or you find it difficult to speak to them? Share your Health through the loneliness hotline.

Or would you like to talk to someone yourself or participate in activities, but don't know what to do? Then there is someone ready to listen and think with you. After a report, a welfare worker will contact you within a week to have a chat.

Report

Report by phone

In addition to the form above, a report can also be made by telephone by calling 0181-322273 (on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.). We ask very brief details of the person you are reporting and will of course treat them with care. If necessary, you will be contacted about the report.

Signs of loneliness

Loneliness is usually not readily apparent from a person, sometimes loneliness can be recognized by signs such as deteriorating self-care, physical complaints, loss of trust in other people and sadness, few social contacts and keeping people at a distance.

Loneliness arises, for example:

  • after a move
  • When a child goes to a new school
  • when a partner dies
  • after a divorce
  • after losing a job
  • financial problems
  • when someone retires
  • When you can no longer go everywhere due to limited mobility

Solutions

Help may include practical solutions or finding solutions together to reduce loneliness. Sometimes that is someone to have a cup of coffee with, play a game or take a walk together. It may also be finding a meaningful activity in which to join or just having a chat now and then. Our professionals try to match the lonely person's experience and needs as closely as possible. A young person wants and can do different things than someone 75 or older.
