Council meeting in a nutshell - May 30, 2024
The Voorne aan Zee Zee City Council met on Thursday, May 30, and made a number of decisions. In this news item, you can read what items were discussed and what decisions were made.
Housing, Welfare, Care Vision
With the Living, Welfare, Care vision, the municipality wants to achieve that everyone in Voorne aan Zee can fully participate in a society in which all people can participate. This vision lists a number of ambitions. A suitable home for everyone, an environment that encourages self-reliance, with or without the help of others, prevention and meeting, for everyone who needs it. A speaker called attention to the housing policy in the Housing, Welfare, Care vision. The council felt the document was not specific enough. Therefore, a motion was made instructing the council to conduct a broader study in the implementation and to provide the council with all information about this vision. In addition, the council requested to be informed in the interim about the status of implementation.
The motion was passed unanimously.
Brielle outlying area environmental plan - Sweeping plan 2
With the Buitengebied Brielle-Veegplan 2 environmental plan, the municipality wants to correct some mistakes made in the past. Before the municipal merger, policies differed from one municipality to another. This led to unjust and undesirable situations after the merger on January 1, 2023. A discussion arose during the council meeting about how the municipality intends to correct these mistakes. Some parties were of the opinion that this way of repairing does not lead to a good solution. A tabled amendment did not gain the majority of the city council.
Integral Housing Plan for Education (IHP) and site selection Integral Child Center (IKC) Oostvoorne
In Voorne aan Zee , nearly 6,000 children attend primary education every day. Scattered throughout the municipality there are 31 school buildings. An attractive, safe and healthy building that offers sufficient space is important to the municipality. An Integral Housing Plan (IHP) describes the future plans for the school buildings in Voorne aan Zee . The council adopted this IHP during the council meeting, but also made funds available for semi-permanent expansions at Het Overbos elementary school in Oostvoorne and at the schools on the Gooteplein in Brielle.
The location choice IKC in Oostvoorne was adopted by the municipal council. This will be the Vrouwe Machteldweg. An amendment to locate two schools instead of one in the new building did not pass. A speaker, who spoke anonymously, asked that attention also be paid to social safety in the vulnerable neighborhood.
Migrant worker housing policy
There are many migrant workers residing in our municipality who contribute to our economy. With the Housing Migrant Workers Policy, the City Council is establishing new Requirements for future housing locations for migrant workers. A unanimously adopted amendment ensured that the policy includes clear definitions on the length of stay of migrant workers, as well as a registration and de-registration procedure.
