Waste Implementation Organization

The current waste collector has decided to stop collecting waste in the municipality of Voorne aan Zee as of January 1, 2026. The municipality has started looking for a new waste collector. After extensive consideration, the college chose to partner with Reinis for waste collection.

Over the past period, this issue and the process that has been followed have been discussed several times. This also happened, privately, in the Space Committee. Since part of the information for this council meeting was also subject to secrecy, this subject was also discussed in private. In the public portion, votes were taken on the proposed amendments, the motion and the proposal was discussed in general.

Speaking Rights

The speaker, the director of one of the unelected parties, expressed dissatisfaction with the process of arriving at the selection of a new waste collector.

'Council's Wishes' amendment to Voorne aan Zee

This amendment calls attention to the follow-up process and it deals with how we proceed with waste collection based
on residents' wishes, services, costs, greening and sustainability. The amendment was adopted.

Amendment Wish and Objections regarding the agenda item Waste Organization

During the council meeting, a motion was made to choose another waste organization. The amendment was defeated.

The college's amended proposal was adopted. This made the motion Waste Collector Voorne aan Zee unnecessary and
was withdrawn. A motion of censure was then made and rejected.

In addition, the following motions were also discussed.

Motion Rapid realization of adjustments to traffic circle Rijksstraatweg/ Amnesty Internationallaan

The City Council unanimously passed a motion to quickly further improve traffic safety at the Rijksstraatweg/Amnesty Internationallaan traffic circle in Hellevoetsluis. This traffic circle is a busy traffic point with many vehicles and cyclists daily where accidents regularly occur.

Motion Limits on cuts to firefighting services.

A motion was made against the planned 5 percent cuts within the Safety Region. The current fire department
cannot and should not be cut, especially because of the complex area we live in. Safety of our residents is important and should not be further curtailed. The motion was embraced by the college and passed unanimously.

Motion Local policy suicide prevention

Through this motion, attention was drawn to the growing number of people contemplating suicide. The 113 Suicide Prevention Foundation offers free help by calling 0800-113 and has tools such as signs saying "I see you, 113. These signs can be placed on public benches. The college was asked to develop policy and provide as many public benches as possible with these signs. The Alderman explained that a policy is being created region-wide (that way we can also learn from each other) and asked the council to hold off on the motion for a while, which it did.
