Council meeting in a nutshell - Sept. 25, 2025
On Thursday, September 25, the Voorne aan Zee Zee City Council met again and made a number of decisions. In this news item you can read what points were discussed and what decisions were made.

Citizen initiative Pumptrack in Voorne aan Zee gets sequel
A citizens' initiative is a proposal that residents themselves submit to the municipality to improve or realize something in their living environment. A group of residents from Rockanje proposed the construction of a pumptrack: a track where young and old can cycle, skate and the like. The municipality thinks this is a great initiative and is now investigating which spot would be best. There are four possible locations: the Noordrand in Rockanje (most promising), the skate park in Oostvoorne, the sports field at the Hoogvlietlaan and the Korteweg in Rockanje.
An amendment was introduced to actively inform the City Council of the progress, developments and results of the study and plan formation through a council information letter. The amendment was adopted by all parties.
Collaboration with Regional Archives expands
From 2026, the municipality of Goeree- Overflakkee will join the Regional Archive of Voorne-Putten, to which Voorne aan Zee and Nissewaard already belong. This will allow for better cost-sharing and more money and space to improve the archives. This means better work can be done on digitizing documents and improving services for residents.
Better information for city council
The Municipal Audit Office investigated the information the City Council receives to do its job. The court of auditors concluded that the city council does not have sufficient direction, does not fully utilize its added value and often receives too much information. Recommendations include developing shared quality criteria and focusing information on politically relevant issues. The city council will work on these.
Physical Environment Regulation: new organization for waste (Reinis)
This ordinance for the former municipality of Hellevoetsluis had yet to be amended. This has now been done. This had already been done for Westvoorne and Brielle. However, the city council was of the opinion that in the future the process that had been followed should be different and better.
Motion 'Family living in Voorne aan Zee'
A proposal was discussed to allow people to temporarily place an extra home in their yard for family members, for example parents or children. This could help with the housing shortage and provide more Health close to home. The motion was held until policies on so-called "attending" are ready. For pre assisted living, those are already in place.
Motion "Unsolicited Opinions Social Domain Advisory Council.
The Social Domain Advisory Council sometimes gives advice to the Municipal College, both solicited and unsolicited. The Social Domain Advisory Council's unsolicited advice will also be shared with the city council, including the college's responses, so that it is better informed. The motion was passed.
Speaking Rights
A speaker called attention to violence against women, also known as femicide, in Voorne aan Zee. The college is already working on a plan for additional measures (extra help and education) on this subject.
In addition, the following decisions were made:
- Accounting for fractional allowances 2024
- Resignation at own request of children's ombudsman and deputy ombudsman, Ms. C.A. Goudsmit
