Council meeting in a nutshell - Nov. 13, 2025
On Thursday, November 13, the City Council met on important issues that affect you. Below is a brief overview of the topics discussed and decisions made.

Decision on zoning plan Environmental Plan Buitengebied Westvoorne Sweeping Plan 4b
The municipal council has adopted the zoning plan Omgevingsplan Buitengebied Westvoorne Veegplan 4b. With this zoning plan, the municipality wants to make the outlying area of former Westvoorne (now Voorne aan Zee) more beautiful and livable. The plan ensures a good balance between housing, nature and agriculture.
Motions
During council meetings, council members can make motions (requests or orders to the college). With a majority vote, the motion is adopted. A "motion strange" is a motion on an issue that is not on the agenda, but has a topical and urgent nature. Three motions strange were passed unanimously (all parties agree and support the motions).
Motion for fast bus connection between Hellevoetsluis and Schiedam
It was unanimously decided to adopt a proposal to establish a direct express bus from Hellevoetsluis to Schiedam via Zwartewaal. This will reduce travel time by about 15 to 20 minutes. The college will work with the MRDH metropolitan region and carrier EBS to see how this can be done. This connection will make travel easier and contribute to less car traffic and better accessibility.
Motion for own GP clinic in Voorne aan Zee
The city council wants the GP post back to Voorne aan Zee. Since 2015, the post in Hellevoetsluis has closed and residents have to go to Spijkenisse. This is inconvenient for people without transportation, especially in the evenings and weekends. The city council believes that a private GP post is needed with almost 75,000 residents. The city council is asked to submit this to Huisartsenposten Rijnmond and inform the city council in early 2026.
Motion for better information about AEDs on municipal website
The City Council believes it is important to make it clear on the website where AEDs are hanging in the community. AEDs can save lives in case of cardiac arrest. Now that information is hard to find. The municipality is working on a digital Map of all AEDs that will be available soon. Therefore it is important that the website already has an overview of the AEDs in Voorne aan Zee.
There were 2 more odd motions that did not receive the majority of votes. Want to know which ones these were? Then check the Voorne aan Zee council information system website, at the November 13, 2025 meeting.
In addition, the following decisions were made:
- Appointment of members of Galilei Supervisory Board
- Update LTA (long-term agenda).
- Waiver of residence requirement Alderman Ball
The next council meeting will be held on Thursday, December 18. You are welcome to attend.
