Council meeting in a nutshell - Feb. 1, 2024

The Voorne aan Zee Zee City Council met on Thursday, Feb. 1, and made a number of decisions. In this news item, you can read what items were discussed and what decisions were made.

At the start of each council meeting, the agenda is discussed and adopted by the City Council. The mayor (as president of the City Council) asked the City Council for its opinion on the five motions presented. Three of the five motions were about the Spreading Law. To keep things orderly, the City Council decided to discuss these motions as one agenda item. The "Municipal Task Enabling Asylum Reception Facilities Act" (Spreading Act) has been published in the Government Gazette. This makes the law effective February 1. The purpose of this law is to ensure sufficient reception places for asylum seekers and to distribute this reception more evenly among provinces and municipalities.

The three motions submitted were rejected. This means that the motions did not receive enough votes to be implemented by the college. However, the college did indicate that it would provide the city council with further information on the Spreads Act in the near future.

Motions

The other two motions did pass. The "Fresh Start" motion was about cleaning up Christmas trees and firework debris and turning in Christmas trees in the municipality. The 'MowMeiNot' motion was about ecological mowing of dikes, roadsides, embankments and banks.

In addition, the following decisions were made:

  • Ms. Maaike Bunschoten was appointed as a committee member for the LEF!
  • Regional Vision on Domestic Violence and Child Abuse 2024-2027 "Breaking the Circle Together."
  • Establishment of preferential right on plot Sportlaan 13 in Hellevoetsluis.
  • Autumn report 2023 Voorne-Putten Recreation Authority.
