Program 80 years of freedom
In 2025 it will be eighty years since the liberation of the Netherlands. In Voorne aan Zee we commemorate the war victims and celebrate freedom in the coming months. A freedom we cherish and pass on to future generations. We do this with the theme "What would you do?
Program Aug. 15: commemoration of the end of World War II
On Friday, August 15, we will commemorate the official end of World War II. You are cordially invited to attend. The commemoration will start at 9 a.m. at the town hall of Voorne aan Zee in Hellevoetsluis. We will walk to the Veterans Memorial where deputy mayor Peter Schop will give a speech and lay a wreath on behalf of the city council. The full program can be found below.
- 9 a.m. Gather at Voorne aan Zee town hall, Oostzanddijk 26 in Hellevoetsluis
- 9:05 a.m. Departure walking to the veterans' memorial
- 9:20 a.m. Welcome and opening by Ahrend Siebelhoff
- 9:25 a.m. Speech by Deputy Mayor Peter Schop. Then a salute of honor and 2 minutes of silence, followed by wreath laying by the deputy mayor and veterans.
- 9:35 a.m. Closing and return to town hall
- 9:50 a.m. Informal gathering and coffee with bacon cake
- 10:15 a.m. Closing
