Limited shipping traffic possible in the Fortress of Hellevoetsluis. Maintenance is needed on the Bridge over the Haaven in the Fortress. Until repairs are made, the turning times of the bridge have been adjusted to two times a day at 9 a.m. in the morning and at 5 p.m. in the afternoon.
Following a clattering bridge deck, additional maintenance was recently performed on the bridge over the Haaven in the Fortress of Hellevoetsluis. It was found that there is wear in the metal part of the swing bridge. There is a risk of the pivot part breaking off when the bridge is turned frequently. Therefore, the bridge will be turned less frequently for shipping traffic until this part is replaced. The turning times have been changed to two times per day; at 9 a.m. in the morning and at 5 p.m. in the afternoon.
The wear and tear has occurred despite annual maintenance and inspection. Work is underway with the contractor to replace the metal part as soon as possible, but also depends on the delivery time of materials to be ordered.
