Nature Fire

A wildfire can quickly get out of control. As a result, it can be difficult to extinguish a wildfire. The risk of a wildfire is indicated by stages. For more information, visit the wildfire risk website at .

What you can do to prevent a wildfire

  • When you are in a nature reserve, note if there is a smoking ban. If it is not, please do not smoke in the nature reserve. If you do smoke, extinguish your cigarette carefully before throwing it away.
  • Dispose of trash in the designated trash bins. If you can't, take the trash and dispose of it at home. Trash, such as a piece of glass that the sun shines on, can actually cause a fire.
  • Are you making a fire in a natural area, such as for a barbecue? Then follow the rules that apply in the area.
  • Be careful where you park your car. Your car's catalytic converter can get very hot. If you park your car in dry, tall grass, the heat from the catalytic converter can cause it to catch fire.
  • Do not park on forest trails. Fire vehicles must have a clear path at all times.

What you can do if you are near a wildfire

  • Avoid getting trapped by the fire. Walk perpendicular to the direction the fire is coming from. Is the fire coming from the south? Then do not walk toward the north, but toward the east or west.
  • Report the fire via 112. When doing so, indicate where the fire is.
  • Do you suspect (intentional) arson? Then remember carefully what you see or film and photograph it so you can pass it on to the emergency services.
