National Heat Plan active: How are you keeping your cool?

With the rising temperatures, the National Heat Plan is in effect. This means it is important to take extra care of yourself and those around you.

Indeed, high temperatures can pose risks, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, young children and people with chronic conditions.

Here are some tips for staying cool and coping with the heat:

  • Health that you drink enough, even if you are not thirsty.
  • Keep your home cool by using curtains or blinds, for example.
  • Avoid the bright sun and stay in the shade as much as possible. Plan activities preferably before noon or after 6 p.m.
  • Be alert to signs of overheating, such as dizziness, headaches or fatigue.
  • Pay close attention to your medication use; some medications can cause additional sensitivity to heat.
  • Think of others, too: visit or call vulnerable people in your area to check on how they are doing.
  • Within the municipality we also have free water taps. Check out the water taps on the Op Voorne-Putten website.
