Maerlant students debate local politics in council chamber
On November 19 and 27, 2025, over 150 high school and college students from the Maerlant had a special opportunity. They debated current issues affecting them and our municipality in the council chamber of City Hall.
The mayor, council members and college members accompanied the students. They explained how local politics works and interacted with the young people. Thus, they not only learned about the political process, but also experienced what it is like to participate in thinking and discussing important issues. Afterwards, the students received a certificate in appreciation for their participation. The school is also proud of this cooperation and looks forward to more initiatives to involve young people in politics.
