Royal Medal of Honor for Helvoet Rescue Brigade
On Saturday, November 15, Mayor Arno Scheepers presented the Royal Medal of Honor to the Helvoet Rescue Brigade. The Medal of Honor was awarded by King Willem-Alexander because of the 50th anniversary of the association. Chairman Bert Vinke accepted the award.
The Helvoetse Reddingsbrigade originated after an incident on the Haringvliet and has since developed into a rescue brigade that makes an essential contribution to safety on the water in Hellevoetsluis and beyond. For example, they are also involved in the National Rescue Fleet (NRV), where they are deployable in crisis situations in the Netherlands. In addition, the association provides training for the Swimming-ABC and federation diplomas. Because of the above and their continuous professionalization, the Helvoetse Reddingsbrigade has proven itself as a reliable aid organization on a local, regional and national level.
