Climate adaptive Voorne-Putten

The climate is changing. Also in the Netherlands. This increases the risk of flooding, drought, heat and floods. This creates risks for our economy, health and safety. To minimize these risks, it is important that we adapt our behavior.

On Voorne-Putten, agreements have been made about this. These are contained in the Delta Program Spatial Adaptation. This is a joint plan of municipalities, water boards, provinces and the rijksoverheid. The agreements mean, for example, that municipalities look at how sensitive their area is to climate influences. The intention is then to design the area differently so that it can better withstand the influences of the climate.

The first step in the approach on Voorne-Putten is ready. An assessment has been made of how sensitive Voorne-Putten is to climate influences. The results can be found in a digital portal. With this information, the municipalities on Voorne-Putten and the water board can move forward. They will do this by engaging with each other and with others. The aim is to come up with good measures so that Voorne-Putten is prepared for the influences of the climate.
