Repair quay wall Maarland south side Brielle
Renovation Foundation Quay Wall Maarland South Side
A new quay wall is currently being installed on Maarland South side. The work involves repairing the worst section of the remaining 227 meters of quay walls in Brielle. This 131-meter stretch is located along Maarland South Side between Café Dixi and the Juliana Bridge.
The quay wall still looks good on the face of it. But diving inspections in recent years have shown that the foundation of this section of quay wall is very poor.
The right recovery method
Much preparation preceded this renovation. For example, there was an extensive search for the right repair method. It was finally decided to place a new quay wall in front of the old quay wall and keep the existing quay wall underground. This method was also discussed with the Monument Commission. In June 2024, the contractor was commissioned to perform the work, and preparatory work for implementation began in late September.
Planning
Implementation of the work will take place between the end of September 2024 and mid-April 2025. The quay and present jetties will then be available for use again from mid-April 2025.
